Propane-fueled flame technology can be used to sanitize both dairy and poultry facilities.

These flame treatments can reduce pathogens and moisture in the sand bedding of dairy facilities or the floors of poultry houses. This can help eliminate the needs for acids or chemical disinfectants.

	Project 1:Dairy Bed Sanitation PERC is supporting research to develop a propane-fueled flame treatment for sand dairy beds. This equipment could be used during the raking procedure to reduce pathogens and improve the bottom line for dairy farmers. Development work has included the construction and testing of a prototype unit.

	Project 2:Poultry House Sanitation Propane-fueled flame can be used to sanitize the floors of poultry houses in between flocks. PERC efforts have supported the testing, validation, and commercialization of a poultry house sanitizer piece of equipment.
