Propane is a proven fuel for irrigation pumps on farms.

Advanced propane-fueled stationary irrigation engines offer increased efficiency and reliability with reduced maintenance needs. PERC efforts have focused on studies to quantify those improvements through objective third party research. PERC has also supported the development and commercialization of new propane irrigation engines for the agriculture market.

Project 3:Propane Irrigation Engines – Testing and demonstration

Improvements to engine design have enabled propane irrigation engines to be more efficient and economical. PERC research conducted through the University of Nebraska quantified those gains. A follow-on demonstration study was also completed to test the new engines in real world field settings.
